It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Presley Chweneyagae, the esteemed South African actor renowned for his compelling performances on both stage and screen. Born on October 19, 1984, in Mafikeng, North West Province, Chweneyagae passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 40. 

Chweneyagae rose to international prominence with his lead role in the 2005 film Tsotsi, which garnered the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.  His portrayal of the complex title character showcased his exceptional talent and brought South African cinema to the global stage.

Throughout his career, Chweneyagae demonstrated versatility and depth in various roles, including notable performances in iNumber Number, Zama Zama, The Number, and the popular television series The River.  His contributions extended beyond acting, as he was actively involved in theatrical productions that highlighted significant historical and social themes.
