Comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane Passes Away at 31

South Africa mourns the loss of celebrated comedian and actor Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, who passed away at the age of 31. His untimely death has left a void in the entertainment industry, where he was renowned for his unique comedic style and engaging performances. 

Born on January 24, 1994, in Bushbuckridge and raised in Mbombela, Dibakwane’s journey into comedy was both unexpected and inspiring. Despite his parents’ academic backgrounds and the opportunities afforded to him, he chose to follow his passion for comedy. This decision led him to win the Newcomer Award at the 6th annual Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in 2016, marking his rise in the comedy scene. 

Dibakwane’s career was marked by notable performances, including opening for award-winning comedian Dillan Oliphant at his one-man show, “Oliphant in the Room.” He also shared the stage with international and local talents at the Comedy Central International Comedy Festival, performing alongside comedians like Trevor Noah, Aries Spears, and Marc Lottering. 

Beyond stand-up, Dibakwane showcased his versatility as an actor. He made his television acting debut with a guest role in the e.tv soapie “Ashes to Ashes” in 2015 and later starred as Kaygee in the SABC1 sitcom “Thuli noThulani” in 2017. His talent also extended to reality TV, where he participated in the first season of “Dancing with the Stars South Africa” in 2018. 

Dibakwane’s comedic style was characterized by his fresh and unusual take on life, offering audiences a unique experience filled with laughter. His ability to narrate the world from unconventional perspectives endeared him to many and solidified his place in South Africa’s comedy landscape.
